2009 Conference Sensory Impairment: Horizons, Innovation & ImpactThis conference was hosted by Mary Hare and New College Worcester. The keynote speaker was Professor David McAlpine, Professor of Auditory Neuroscience and Director fo the Ear Institute who delivered the Con Powell memorial lecture on: "The Frontiers of Sensory Research and the Potential for Positive Effects on the Lives of Those with Sensory Disabilities". 2008 ConferencePaediatric Audiology TodayProfessor Richard Seewald from the University of Western Ontario opened the 2008 conference with the keynote speech: "Individualising the filling of amplification for infants and young children". The Con Powell memorial lecture was delivered by Dr Kevin Munro from the University of Manchester on the subject of "Dead regions in the cochlea: Assessment and management issues for children," and Mary Hostler, also of the University of Manchester spoke on "FMs and Young Children". Paddy Boyle, Director of Global Research at Advanced Bionics spoke on "Cochlear Implants and Young Children" followed by Melanie Ferguson from the Institute of Hearing research, who spoke on "Auditory Processing Disorder". |
2007 ConferenceDeveloping a Listening EarThe first conference organised by Mary Hare was held over three days. Dr Morag Clark was the first keynote speaker on the subject on the subject of "On-going Parent Guidance, leading to listening, talking deaf children." The second keynote was delivered by Margaret Brown: "Advances in spoken language development: the contributions of earlier diagnosis and technological innovation to parental input." Mariette Paterson and Elizabeth Cole also contributed with "What does the listening ear listen for?" and "Auditory Learning: Why and When?" At the conference dinner delegates were entertained by Mary Hare pupils performing some musical arrangments. |
