How do we care for your child?
Out of school hours the children are taken care of by our care staff. Each bedroom group, which can vary in size, is the responsibility of one keyworker. This keyworker will look after every aspect of your child's welfare, keeping in regular contact with parents, liaising with the school nurse, talking with teachers, planning individual programmes, attending annual reviews, etc.
We ensure that each child's keyworker is around at important times of the day, especially in the early morning and at bedtime. Rotas are organised in such a way that each child is able to establish a close personal relationship with his / her keyworker.
Our approach to behaviour is based on:
- High expectations
- Informality
- Consistency
- Parental Involvement
We feel it is important to expect normal standards of behaviour and not to excuse or ignore bad behaviour. We aim to create a friendly, family atmosphere with the minimum of institutional procedures. This approach is understood and followed by all staff, who have a responsibility to set a clear and consistent example to children. We recognise the importance of home influence in promoting good standards of behaviour. We always try to involve parents in all aspects of their children's care and look forward to parental support and co-operation. Positive behaviour, kindness and consideration for others are regularly rewarded in school.
