The Murray House Appeal

In June 2009, The Mary Hare Foundation launched an appeal to raise the funds needed to for a new boarding house at Mary Hare School.   The boarding house will cater for the needs of Year 11 pupils, as they progress from GCSE coursework to the demands of the A Level curriculum.

Year 11 students at Mary Hare School are currently housed in mixed age boarding accommodation which does not allow them to adopt the type of working practices that are vital in the Post-16 phase of their education. The creation of a new Year 11 boarding house will encourage independent study as well as collaborative learning in the students’ final year before moving on to Sixth Form and preparation for entry to university or other further education.

The Mary Hare Foundation received a substantial legacy in 2008 and these funds will be put towards this major new development. This contribution will be recognised in the naming of the building as ‘Murray House’.

	We would like to thank all our supporters that gave over the Christmas period 1/11/11 to the 5/1/12 donations made through www.localgiving.com , the national website dedicated to supporting local charities and community groups received match funds from a national pot worth £125,000. This meant that Localgiving.com matched every pound donated to local groups registered on their site with an equal amount (subject to conditions) Mary Hare received £700
