Short Course Programme

This is our latest programme of short courses for Parents and Professionals.

You can read about each of them in more detail using the menu on the right. Booking forms should be sent as soon as possible, with payment or invoicing instructions. Places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis and we will confirm your place, with information on the venue and timings, as soon as we can. Please do get in touch if you need to change any details of your booking.

To guide you through our schedule of courses, we have used a coding system.

EDUCATION (S Lewis): These courses are delivered by Sue Lewis. Sue Lewis is a member of the Mary Hare Training Team, leading the training courses for Teachers of the Deaf, which are run in conjunction with Oxford Brookes University and the University of Wales, Newport. She is a specialist teacher of the deaf and also an OFSTED trained inspector who both leads inspections and operates as a team member for early years, primary, secondary, special schools and pupil referral units. She also can inspect children’s centres and initial teacher education. She has worked in support services for deaf children and special schools as well as in teacher training. Advisory and consultancy work including work with the Department of Education, the Welsh Assembly and Cambridge Education, as well as specialist support across a range of European countries and international work further afield.

EDUCATION: These courses are delivered by Specialist Mary Hare Teachers of the Deaf and members of the Mary Hare Training team. All members of our team are experts in their field and take an active part in delivering our Foundation Degree in Hearing Aid Audiology and our postgraduate courses in Educational Studies (Hearing Impairment); Early Years and Deafness and Educational Audiology. (For more details about these undergraduate and postgraduate courses click here.

AUDIOLOGY: These courses are delivered by our Mary Hare Audiology team. Mary Hare employs Clinical Audiologists, Audiological Scientists, Educational Audiologists and Hearing Aid Dispensers. These staff are appropriately trained and experienced in the delivery of approved BSA (British Society of Audiology) courses and (where appropriate) are registered with the Health Professions Council. These professionals have been chosen to work with our Audiology team because of their extensive experience with deaf children.

EAR FOUNDATION: Each year, the Ear Foundation chooses the courses that they would like to deliver at Mary Hare. This year we are hosting three courses from their programme.

Mary Hare tries to keep the cost of its short courses as low as possible.  For this reason, delegates needing BSL interpretation for a short course will need to use their 'Access to Work' allowance to provide their own BSL support.
