ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS |

Grade A-C at GCSE would be expected. Consideration would be given to a candidate with a strong portfolio of work.

TEACHING/LEARNING STYLES |
| Looking at and experimenting with Weaving, Felting, Printing and Surface Decoration, students will be guided through their coursework and personal investigation. Individual tuition and back-up technical
support in addition to coursework notes will be provided. Visits to galleries, working textile artists and exhibitions are an integral part of the course.

INDEPENDENT STUDY
|

Individual development will be expected in the form of both practical and written research. Due to the time consuming nature of this subject students will be expected to attend extra tuition to maintain steady development of their work. In Advanced level study you should expect to spend 8 hours a
week on work outside the classroom. This will include assessments set by teachers and background reading or practical work.

RESIDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS/OUT OF SCHOOL TRIPS |

Regular visits are arranged to both local and national exhibitions at Art Galleries and Museums.

PROGRESSION ROUTES |
|
A2-level Art and Design (Textiles) is a valid A2-level qualification to any university or college. Many students progress to Foundation courses in Art and Design Textiles and/or Degree courses in Art and Design Textiles, e.g. Fine Art, Fashion, Interior Design, Graphics, etc. There are many openings for a career in Art and Design.
