Phil Packer visit 2012.jpgWe welcomed Phil Packer MBE back to Mary Hare School as part of his BRIT challenge on Tuesday 7 February.  Pupils, staff and 4 local fireman joined him on his 3 mile walk around the school field, Snelsmore Common and back around the field again.  It was a clear day and good to be involved in the BRIT challenge.

Phil tweeted: “Walking at Mary Hare School in Newbury, West Berkshire – a fantastic school, supported by local firefighters”.

The pupils enjoyed talking to Phil Packer en-route and he told them about some of the difficulties some children face and how he wants to support them by walking 2012 miles in 2012.  Major Packer is urging 2012 businesses to support him by raising £15m through his charity, British Inspiration Trust, to build a centre in the UK for charities to send young people facing adversity. He is also asking teams and individuals to complete 2012 miles in 2012 for a charity of their choice.

Thanks to all who made the walk a great success and I know Phil was inspired by the pupils he met. We look forward to following his success throughout the year.
