The Curriculum

The curriculum at Mary Hare stands comparison with any school in the country and, more importantly, our pupils' results confirm that deaf children can access the curriculum with even greater success than their hearing peers. The curriculum at G.C.S.E. is as broad and as balanced as any to be found in the UK and promotes high levels of achievement in subject areas which are often regarded as inaccessible for hearing-impaired children. For example subjects such as Music and Modern Foreign Languages are strengths within our curriculum and the our pupils' results are the envy of many a hearing school. Pupils are not disapplied from the national curriculum.

Ultimately, Mary Hare prides itself on being an extremely successful stepping stone to University and provides G.C.E. Advanced Level, BTEC and NVQ options for Sixth Form students. Nearly all students go on to take up places in Higher Education, but we are equally proud of a small number who choose a vocational route at 18.

Mary Hare is an academic community that delights in promoting and celebrating the achievements of deaf children and giving them the confidence to seek out a professional career that will fulfil them in adult life.
