With snow on the ground and fog in the air the Intermediate Youth Speaks team, Andrew H, William H and Andrew Mc, travelled to Reading to take part in the District Zone Final.

As Mr Lee parked the mini bus one of the team announced that he had forgotten his prompt cards. We all laughed for a while, knowing what a joker he was. Then we realised he was serious. Another team member suggested that we pop back to school for them. We ignored this suggestion and after a lot of smartphone searching managed to miraculously bring the required talk down through the ether and deliver it to the student in question’s ipod.

Our team were up against some tough and polished opposition, but we are pleased to say that our team’s natural delivery, humour and ability to engage with the audience impressed the judges and…we won!

The team will be going on to the next round at the beginning of March…
