Off to the final

Jasmine, a pupil from Mary Hare Primary School has made it through to the final of the Voice Box Competition in London in April with her joke, ‘If I had six apples in my left hand and seven apples in my right hand, what would I have?  Big hands!’

Over 5000 primary school age pupils took part in the competition and just 20 were selected to take part in the final at Portcullis House, Westminster, London on 30th April 2019.

The Voice Box competition is run by the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and is a UK wide joke competition.  The competition aims to remind people that all children need support to build their communication skills and confidence, some needing additional specialist help to speak. More than 10% of children and young people have long term speech, language and communication needs which create barriers to communication or learning. This includes 2.3% who have difficulties associated with another condition such as hearing impairment.

Well done to Jasmine and good luck for at the final!
