Hard hats to the ready

6th Form construction students  recently visited a Wilmot Dixon site in Winchester as part of their course.  The large leisure centre project is due to be completed in a few weeks.  It consisted of  a series of light filled spaces both spectacular and inspiring.

Reece, a 6t h Form student said ‘I liked the team from Willmott Dixon.  They all demonstrated very good deaf awareness by talking clearly and using good body language to show us around the leisure centre.  They showed us the facilities, my favourite was the gym area, it was amazing.  I also liked the hydrotherapy pool, and the swimming pool because the floor could be raised and lowered by a cable pully system.  I enjoyed the trip because, as a plumber it opened my eyes to the opportunities and kind of projects, I could be a part of in the future.  I just want to say thank you very much to the Willmott Dixon team it was splendid trip which I really enjoyed.’

Daniel, another student said, 'I feel like they all did good good job of keeping us engaged and interested throughout the day.  I liked the leisure centre, especially the basketball courts.  I got to see how my course links to working in the work place.  Thank you for this opportunity I had a great day.'

Mr Hogan accompanying the students commented, 'the pupils were exemplary and a pleasure to take. They asked some good questions, with sustained attention in some very difficult listening conditions and were a credit to the school.'

The construction students are all looking forward to the new vocational cabin which is due to be built at the end of May.
