Persimmon Homes' Community Champions
Fundraising to provide a new fitness trail and outdoor play equipment for Coles Diner has been given a boost thanks to a regional builder.
Persimmon Homes Thames Valley chose Mary Hare School to become one of its monthly Community Champions. The school received a £1,000 match-funded donation for its appeal to improve outdoor facilities for its pupils.
Coles Diner, the self-funding youth club has been raising money to provide outdoor play equipment and a new fitness trail.
Anne Munby, spokeswoman for the school, said: “We hope the new facilities will be a real boost for the children’s wellbeing and fitness and are delighted that Persimmon Homes has decided to support us in this way.
We have 230 deaf children from all over the UK and 90 per cent are residential, so having things to do at the weekends is essential. The overall cost for the equipment and ground preparation is £10,000. So far, the students and staff have raised £3,000 by doing a sponsored walk and holding a summer fair with more events planned for the autumn term. Persimmon’s help is greatly appreciated.”
