We offer a range of short courses.  We can deliver these on our site in Newbury, or, depending on the number of candidates, we can come to you.  If you are interested in any of the following courses, please get in touch and we will let you know of the next scheduled date.  If you have a group of people who would like to train, we will do our best to arrange a date to suit you.

    Hearing Care Assistant Programme (HCA)

    Aimed at professionals currently employed within the audiology sector who wish to develop their skills as an Audiology Assistant.Future dates for 2024/25 are under consideration, to register your interest please contact [email protected]  Part 1 - Basic Audiometry and Otoscopy  & Impression TakingBLOCK 1WebinarsComprises of 8 Webinar presentations of 1 hour, supported by live, 1 hour Webinar Q&A, and a review of the sessions.Each of these Webinar topics will be assessed with a minimum of 75% pass rate required.Practical WorkshopsThere are 3 online practical workshops of 1 hour and tasks will be performed and observed in small groups of 2 to 4 students in preparation for Block 2 assessments.BLOCK 2Face to Face Workshops and Assessments There is a 2 day face to face session for completion of practical training and assessments for both Basic Audiometry and Otoscopy & Impression Taking.Part 2 - Hearing and MaintenanceBLOCK 3WebinarsComprises of 7 Webinar presentations of 1 hour, supported by live, 1 hour Webinar Q&A, and review sessions. Each of these Webinar topics will be assessed with a minimum of 75% pass rate required.Practical WorkshopsThere are 3 online practical workshops of 1 hour and tasks will be performed and observed in small groups of 2 to 4 students.Face to Face Workshops and Assessments - At the conclusion of Block 3 there will be a face to face HAT Assessment. This is a 2 hour practical assessment where students will be assessed on their competencies and skills in: programming hearing aids to first fit fine tuning and adjusting pairing to streaming technologies basic servicing and trouble-shooting of hearing aids

    Webinars
    Comprises of 8 Webinar presentations of 1 hour, supported by live, 1 hour Webinar Q&A, and a review of the sessions.

    There are 3 online practical workshops of 1 hour and tasks will be performed and observed in small groups of 2 to 4 students in preparation for Block 2 assessments.

    BSA Certificate in Otoscopy and Impression Taking

    OverviewThis course is suitable for Teachers of the Deaf, Educational Audiologists, Registered Hearing Aid Dispensers and assistants in audiology clinics.  This course will form part of the HCA course.  Attendees are welcome to attend just for this element of the course to obtain the BSA Certificate.Training for otoscopy and impression taking (to British Society of Audiology standards).The day includes basic anatomy and physiology, what to look for on otoscopy and practical skills in otoscopy and impression taking to BSA standards.  Delegates who complete the training will be required to pass a practical and written assessment before they obtain the certificate of practice.  The practical assessment is undertaken on the day, and the written assessment is taken away as homework to be completed within 4 weeks of the course.  The course is 8-9 hours over one day including the practical assessment.Duration: 1 dayCourse fee: £300 (+ VAT)Course dates: to be confirmedApply
