Safety: 2/3D design; sketching; rendering techniques; creative thinking; product analysis; mechanisms; structures; Heraldry in Resistant Materials – wood and plastic; finishing and evaluation. Comic Book Characters and story – scaling drawings. Electronic torch – basic components and designing for a client.

The Graphics project consists of general principles, isometric drawing, two point perspective and orthographic drawing. The design process with packaging and advertising theories and nets, with the design and manufacture of a piece of packaging that is fit for a purpose.

The Resistant Materials project consists of design analysis, production and evaluation of ideas, woodwork, plastics and metal work theories and practical, plus evaluation. The design and make of a mechanical toy that includes moving parts and a desk tidy.

Development of personal response to the theme Half and Half involving sketchbooks studies, developmental and experimental pieces and final piece of work.

Resistant Materials

The design process; 2/3D design; safety; creative thinking; product analysis; investigation; research; development; planning; evaluation; materials – wood, metal and plastics.  Research techniques and coursework production.

Designing skills, Making skills, Drawing & modelling, and Computer Aided Design & Manufacture (CAD/CAM) in their controlled assessment piece.

Externally Set Task
Exam paper received at the beginning of January. Controlled time will be in March 2017. Students are to explore their chosen suggested starting point and research and develop ideas
