Safeguarding

What is Safeguarding?

  • Providing help and support to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge.
  • Protecting children from maltreatment whether that is within or outside the home, including online.
  • Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
  • Ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.

Safeguarding at Mary Hare

Mary Hare School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We have an effective safeguarding culture where we foster an honest, open, caring, and supportive environment. All staff maintain an attitude of ‘it could happen here’ and are trained on recognising and reporting safeguarding issues.
We recognise that pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities or certain health conditions can face additional safeguarding challenges and are 3 times more likely to be abused than their peers.

If you would like any of the information on this page translated into BSL please contact us.
