Mwaura recently completed his studies at Mary Hare, and this year he passed his Level 3 Plumbing at college. While at Mary Hare, Mwaura was encouraged into the sport of running and entered his first 5k park run last year.
While at Mary Hare, Mwaura was encouraged into the sport of running and entered his first 5k park run last year. Since then, he has gone on to take part in lots of running events and races, including the Hackney Half Marathon with the Deaf Run Club and, more recently, the London Marathon.
“Crossing the London Marathon finish line was one of the most emotional moments of my life. The atmosphere was unbelievable from start to finish, and becoming a London Marathon finisher is something I will never forget. I want to say a huge thank you to Anna Jewell from the careers team for registering me for the 5k parkrun last year. That small step became the beginning of my running journey. Running has become a huge part of my life, and I honestly may never have started without her support and encouragement.”
We welcomed back Mwaura to this year’s Sports Day as our guest of honour.
