Course description
This is a 60 credit, Level 7 module for the MA/MSc Deaf Education Studies.
Overview of the module:
- Develop the skills of research, enquiry, evaluation and data analysis in specialised contexts within the field of education of children who are deaf and/or educational audiology.
- Critically appraise research techniques and methodologies and to be able to select an appropriate methodology for the chosen topic.
- Successfully carry out and report upon a small scale research project in a relevant professional area
This will involve:
- Attendance at two introductory Study Days, at which students critically appraise research techniques and are supported to develop their research question and methodology.
- A designated specialist supervisor for up to 12 hours of individual support through the following year.
- Research opportunities within Mary Hare Schools, (subject to approval from the Mary Hare Research Committee).
- Online resources via Studynet, (Partner University), and Mary Hare's e-library.
- Completion of a research project and a 12,000 word dissertation.
