"Pupils’ lives are positively transformed by attending Mary Hare" Ofsted May 2025

On May 13th and 14th Mary Hare School was inspected by Ofsted.  Today the Report was published on the Ofsted website.  Whilst this was an ungraded inspection it concludes Mary Hare has taken effective action to maintain the grading of our last inspection. There are many positive comments within the report, including:

"Pupils are proud to show their school values of ready, respectful, safe and successful. They are welcoming, friendly and confident communicators."

"Staff are highly attuned to pupils’ individual needs and ensure they are met effectively. The school has high expectations for how well pupils will conduct themselves and learn. Pupils know why it is important to work hard and be kind. Pupils regularly meet these expectations by behaving and achieving well."

"Pupils’ lives are positively transformed by attending Mary Hare. Pupils are eager to share their lived experiences. Many say that when they arrived here for the first time, they felt like they belonged and were able to meet children and adults who understood them well."

"Many pupils arrive with limited vocabulary exposure. Every area of the curriculum emphasises vocabulary development to strengthen pupils’ language skills."

"Overall, I am delighted that this report highlights the importance of Mary Hare School in ensuring deafness is not a barrier to success and recognises our staff and pupil ambition for pupil outcomes. Coming within the same academic year as our Outstanding Social Care Inspection it has made 2024-25 a significant success for Mary Hare School and endorses everything we strive to achieve."
