Mary Hare School Hosts Inaugural Family Fun Day for Families of Deaf Children

Mary Hare Inaugural Family Fun Day Event - Outdoor Academy Climbing Wall

On Sunday 6th July, Mary Hare School proudly hosted its first-ever Family Fun Day—an event dedicated to bringing together families of deaf children for a day of connection, celebration, and community support.

The event welcomed 11 Deaf support services, all housed within a large marquee, which took the Mayor and Mayoress of Newbury, along with Mary Hare Principal Robin Askew, over an hour to tour. The day featured a wide range of engaging activities designed to entertain both children and adults, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere throughout the school grounds.

Robin Askew, Principal of Mary Hare School, commented:
“I am extremely grateful to everyone involved and to the many staff members whose hard work ensured the success of this event. Thank you to all who volunteered their time and helped make the day so special.”

The school extends its heartfelt thanks to all families, organisations, and volunteers who joined in making the day such a memorable occasion. The event was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections within the Deaf community, and plans are already underway for its return.

Save the Date: The next Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday 28th June 2026—promising double the fun!
