Congratulations to all winners of the Claire Campbell Outstanding Achievement Awards and Corporate Partnership Award 2025!

Mary Hare Sixth Form student Jasper Loten, won the 2025 Claire Campbell Children and Young People Outstanding Achievement Award. Nominated by Principal Mr. Askew and the school, Jasper has grown from having no speech at age three to excelling academically with Auditory Verbal therapy support.

He has thrived in Army Cadets, earned his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, qualified as a lifeguard, and became Head Prefect at Mary Hare – the UK's largest school for deaf children. Currently studying A Levels in Economics, IT, and Maths, alongside an Extended Project Qualification, Jasper represents his school at public events and embodies the school's values of being Ready, Respectful, Safe, and Successful, making him a role model for younger pupils. Beyond academics, Jasper has demonstrated exceptional leadership and advocacy.

He represented the UK at the AG Bell LOFT program in Washington DC, spoke at the Houses of Parliament championing deaf awareness, and been interviewed for radio and television. Jasper says: "I was extremely honoured and proud to be nominated by Mr. Askew. It meant so much to me to win the Claire Campbell Award, as AVUK has been a huge part of my life and I am now in my final year at Mary Hare School. I am grateful to all those who have supported me throughout – the award is for them as much as me." The Claire Campbell Outstanding Achievement Awards celebrate deaf children, young people, and adults who go above and beyond to challenge perceptions and show what's possible with early, effective support. The event took place on 25th November in memory of Claire Campbell, a mother of three (two of whom are deaf – Alice and Oliver).

Claire was an advocate for deaf issues and a trustee at AVUK. The awards were launched in 2023 in tribute to Claire, honouring her legacy championing the vital need for early and effective support for deaf children to achieve their potential. Claire was, and remains, a source of inspiration to many families with deaf children across the UK and internationally.

Claire's husband and Awards judge, Chris Campbell, said: "I am thrilled that each year these awards and all the nominees are getting stronger. Claire would be as delighted as I am to see these young deaf people defying expectations and the amazing adults who support them. These awards are a true celebration of the diversity of deafness and what is possible. Congratulations to all the worthy winners and fantastic nominees."
