Our lovely Primary School is in Newbury, Berkshire. We offer day and weekly boarding places to primary aged pupils with a hearing impairment. Our key aim is to develop pupils’ English and to develop their self esteem.
Small class sizes, acoustically treated classrooms, the full national curriculum and no signing in lessons. In addition, all our teachers are subjects specialists and Teachers of the Deaf.
We are the biggest centre for deaf pupils wanting to study A’ Levels and BTEC’s in the UK. We offer a wide choice of academic and vocational courses, lots of deaf peers and a great social life.
Our alumni are great ambassadors for the school. Their involvement is great from giving talks to current pupils, raising funds for us and being involved in generally marketing our wonderful school.
We offer a wide range of courses for professionals, some in partnership with other organisations. We provide accommodation on site for our residential courses and provide an excellent space for professionals to network.
The Mary Hare Foundation was established in 1991 to raise funds for Mary Hare School. Since then we have raised over £8 million to enable the school to modernise and build new facilities.
Mary Hare School came to its current home near Newbury in 1946. Since that time the organisation has grown to include a number of business, as well as post graduate education, training courses and research.
