Imran Mulla

Background 
Imran works in the field of audiology and fulfils different responsibilities, including clinical practice, research, and academic lecturing. Since 2015, he has been the Audiology Lead for Education at Sensory Support Services in Bolton, Greater Manchester. In this position, he ensures that hearing devices and rehabilitation programs are integrated optimally for children and young people aged 0–18. He has also worked as a clinical audiologist in the National Health Service (NHS) since 2005, focusing on adult rehabilitation and paediatric audiology. 

Imran completed his undergraduate studies in Audiology at the University of Manchester, obtaining a First-Class BSc (Hons) with distinction in clinical practice. Subsequently, he was awarded an Economics and Social Research Council studentship, which enabled him to pursue his doctoral studies in Audiology at the University of Manchester. His PhD research focused on the use of hearing technologies to enhance outcomes for preschool deaf children. As part of the studentship, he also completed a Master's in Research Psychology. 

He headed the research team at The Ear Foundation from 2011 to 2015, leading and coordinating numerous research projects and producing published reports, peer-reviewed papers, and conference presentations. He is currently a Lecturer in Audiology at the University of Edinburgh, where his primary focus is to provide comprehensive audiology training to educators of deaf children, equipping them with the practical skills and knowledge to better serve the children and families they work with. 

Since 2014, he has been the Research Methods and Dissertation Module Lead for the MA/MSc in Deaf Education Studies (Teacher of the Deaf and Educational Audiology courses) at Mary Hare Postgraduate Courses affiliated to Uni of Herts. In that time he has supervised and helped in coordinating over 40 master's dissertations.
