A level results in a challenging year

This has been a very challenging year for students, staff and families. However, this year’s results represent some of the best we have seen in recent years, and which we are sure are fully deserved. Like many schools, we have concerns about some grade adjustments, and we will be pursuing these.

Some highlights:

Tobias Hestor achieved A*, A, A and C in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics

Emily Sharpley got A* A and B in Fine Art, Photography and Core Maths

Luke Champney achieved a Distinction in his IT Cambridge Technical, Hannah Allen got an A in Fine Art and a B in Photography.

Peter Gale, Principal of Mary Hare said “I’m very proud of the way the students and staff have dealt with this very difficult situation. I have been very impressed by the way our young people engaged with new ways of learning, and also have been delighted with the support staff and students have received from families. All the students who planned to go to university next year have gained their place.

Teaching classes of deaf students requires specialist training and expertise, all of which had to be modified to suit distance learning. The staff took this challenge on successfully, although I know they are looking forward to being face to face with their classes again”.                                                                                            Mary Hare 6th form pupils at the hustings for Head Boy and Head Girl
